There are many places to eat at L.A. Live, but if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, your choices are really limited. The best place to grab something to eat without breaking the bank is at Smashburger. The company’s website boasts that their “burgers are always made-to-order, never frozen, smashed and seared to perfection.”
There’s nothing too fancy about the L.A. Live location. You head in, order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. There is both interior and patio seating. The people who work there are hit or miss. Most of them are friendly, but there are a few who could try a little harder.
I always get the same thing… the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger ($7.29). It’s a traditional Smashburger topped with sautéed crimini mushrooms, aged swiss cheese and truffle mayo on an egg bun. Go ahead and add a side of the Smash Fries. They are tossed in Italian olive oil, rosemary and garlic.
If you want to be healthier, try the Baja Cobb Salad ($6.99). It’s fresh greens, sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sliced jalapenos, guacamole, tomatoes and onions topped with chipotle dressing. We also add a grilled Smashburger patty for an additional $2.
We are Smashburger fans, except on game nights because they use a limited menu to get people in and out faster, and on game nights this place is always busy so there is always a line.
