CRAVING MEXICAN FOOD IN DTLA? YOU MUST TRY TIRSA’S RESTAURANT

Okay, when it comes to Mexican food in DTLA, there are so many choices and we have tried them all.  We have our favorites… and right now, Tirsa’s Restaurant is on the top of our list.  Tirsa’s took over the old Chow Mein spot on Cesar Chavez, just west of Grand Avenue in the former Wal-Mart grocery store complex.

Tirsa (the owner and chef) offers up a great menu of traditional Mexican favorites.  There was so much to choose from, we were a little overwhelmed.  We started with homemade chips and a sampling of her delicious homemade salsas and guacamole, and then a cup of her Chicken Tortilla Soup ($3.99).  OMG!  This soup was so good.  I want more.

My husband went for the L.A. Bite Burrito ($9.50).  It’s your choice of meat, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, grilled jalapeno, tomato, guacamole, cilantro or chipotle aioli… and wait for it… French fries all rolled together in a tortilla.  I wanted to try something new, so I ordered the Xicanessa Tortanini ($9.50).  It’s breaded chicken breast, avocado, cilantro aiolo and mozzarella cheese on a roll.  Again, so good!

20171211_183714The portions here are quite generous.  There was so much food, I brought home half of my sandwich for lunch the next day.  We were stuffed, but then Tirsa brought on a trio of churros.  Well, there’s always room for churros, right?  These churros were filled with cream.  Once again, so good!  Okay, get this.  We loved the food so much, we sent back to Tirsa’s the next night.  This time we started with the “Me So Corny” corn in a cup (made from fresh corn off the cob).  This elote is perfection!  Then we ordered the Classic Burrito ($9.50) and Tee Original Salad ($11.50) with Tirsa’s signature cilanto lime dressing.

Take a look at the restaurant’s Instagram page.  The food looks amazing, and tastes even better.  You need to give this place a try.  It’s great!  Tirsa’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (until 8pm) but only on Monday through Friday (no weekends, yet).
