Conveyor belt sushi is nothing to get excited about, right? Well, when that conveyor belt is circling the spectacular views from the 69th floor of the Wilshire Grand… WOW, suddenly conveyor belt sushi is awesome again! Sora is the new sushi restaurant inside the newly opened InterContinental Hotel in DTLA. The space give you a breathtaking view to the north. First you look at the tops of the DTLA skyline, then you look further and spot Dodger Stadium, Glendale, Pasadena… the views are endless.
Once you have taken in the views, it’s time for sushi. A small selection of dishes pass by you on the conveyor belt. We snatched up the Vegetable ($4), and Soba ($4) Inari. Both were topped with soy sauce gelatin. We also grabbed a 4-piece California Roll ($6).
A majority of the menu is made to order. We went for the Spicy Tuna Roll ($8) and the Tempura Shrimp Roll ($8), plus Yellowtail ($12), Eel ($8) and the Bluefin Tuna ($12) sushi. The Bluefin Tuna melted like butter in my mouth. Amazingly good!
Here’s the bottom line about Sora: The fish was fresh. The prices were descent. The service was super friendly and you can’t beat the view! This is the perfect place to escape the craziness of the streets below, and experience a great meal. Sora is open daily from 11am to 10pm. (9pm on Sundays).
