There are a bunch of new restaurants about to open and under construction in Downtown Los Angeles…. here’s the quick update on just a few of them:
There is still no official opening date for the new Earl of Sandwich restaurant in the Water Court of California Plaza. The signs in the window read “Spring 2017” so hopefully the place opens any day now. I am craving the Full Montagu sandwich made with roast beef, turkey, Swiss and cheddar cheeses, lettuce, tomato and mustard sauce!
We are waiting for the new Gulp Sushi and Ale House to open on the lower level of the Fig at 7th shopping complex. There are already two other Los Angeles area Gulp locations in West L.A. and Playa Vista. Gulp Sushi and Ale House takes over the space that once housed City Tavern.
Jinya Ramen Bar is a national franchise restaurant. There are currently six Jinya locations in Southern California. The new DTLA location is taking over the old Tossed Salad space on Wilshire Boulevard next to the 85°C Bakery. The space has been completely gutted and is being redesigned. A sign in the window says “Opening Spring 2017.”
Also currently under construction is a place called CoffeeWalk Yogurtalk on the lower level inside The Bloc complex. There is already a location inside the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall. You you might expect from the name of the place, it specializes in coffee, tea and frozen yogurt. The Bloc is also getting a place called Drink Coffee + Tea, Qwench Juice Bar, Hatch and The Urban Kitchen.
SweetGreen is coming to ground level of the Cal Edison Building at 5th and Grand Avenues. This place is described as “a destination for simple, seasonal, healthy food.” They serve up a variety of delicious looking bowls and salads. SweetGreen has locations all over the U.S including a few in Southern California. They are currently hiring for the new DTLA location. If you are interested go to sweetgreen.com/careers. No date on an official grand opening yet!
Fresh Order Grill is just one of the many new restaurants coming to the Spring Arcade. According to the Spring Arcade website, they are also getting Pizza Lucca, Rice Box and Choppe Choppe… plus the long awaited Clayton’s Public House. It looks like the Spring Arcade will be giving the Grand Central Market a run for it’s money!
