The other night we were bar-hopping around DTLA and decided we needed some food. We ended up in Springtime in New York Cafe at the corner of 6th and Spring. First off, the service was great. The cashier could not have been nicer. After placing our orders, we sat outside in the patio area to do some people watching. When our food was ready, they brought it out to us. So friendly!
I ordered the Turkey Burger ($12). It was a freshly grilled shredded turkey patty topped with tomato, mango relish, avocado and a garlic Aioli sauce. It was served with side of pickles and your choice of a house salad or French fries. I went for the fries! My always healthy husband ordered the Chopped Salad ($10) made up of Romaine lettuce, tomato, black beans, corn, avocado, mixed cheeses and tortilla chips tossed in a Chipotle Ranch dressing. He added chicken for an additional $3.
Our friend ordered the Breakfast Burrito ($9) from the all-day breakfast menu. It was scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, sauteed bell peppers, onions, and Chipotle ranch dressing wrapped in tomato basil tortilla. It came with a side of seasoned steak cut fries. The food was solid cafe food, served in generous portions. The seasoned steak cut fries that came with the breakfast burrito were AWESOME even though they served them with some funky spiced ketchup.
It appears that Springtime in New York is expanding. The space next door promotes the arrival of Fry Express and it will be part of Springtime in New York. I can’t wait to see what they will be serving/frying up.
