Okay, I’m normally all about DTLA, but here’s an exception. We decided to leave DTLA for a short road trip to Highland Park to check out Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, home of the “Cruffin.” The half-croissant and half-muffin creation is constantly showing up in our Instagram feed, and I was finally going to get one… so I thought. What they don’t tell you on Instagram is that if you want a Cruffin, you need to get there early because they sell out quickly.
Okay, so there were no Cruffins left, but that was just fine because the Fruit Danish ($4), the Strawberry Jalapeno Bearclaw ($4.50) and the Cornflake Cookie ($3) were worth the trip. OMG good! Seriously some of the best baked goods… ever! I can’t wait to go back and sink my teeth into one of these Cruffins.
You will love their food, and you will also love the “Eat Me LA” message in the tile entrance and the “I Got Baked in Los Angeles” neon sign inside. The only thing that could make Mr. Holmes Bakehouse better is if they moved to DTLA.
