Everyone loves free food, right? Well, the people behind a new restaurant opening in DTLA are giving away free ramen to celebrate their opening. The place is a ramen bar called dtLAmen. It is taking over the space that was once Alma on Broadway across from the Ace Hotel. Alma closed down in October 2015 and the space has been empty since. Although the restaurant’s website says “Opening End of 2016,” in early January, the owners of dtLAmen told DTLAexplorer.com that, “we will likely open at the end of this month.”
From looking at the restaurant’s social media sites, it looks to be a casual restaurant where you, “Grab your menu. Order your food. We will seat you.” There will be communal tables inside the restaurant. They are currently hiring a restaurant manager, servers, line cooks and dishwashers (apply on their website).
Oh, back to the free food. dtLAmen is owned by the same people who run Benten Ramen in San Gabriel. The Benten Ramen Facebook page it reads:
“Big news! We are extremely excited to announce that we will open up our 2nd location @dtlamen in the end of January 2017! We would like to provide our dear @benten_ramen_sg customers the invitation with #1freeramen at @dtlamen during our soft opening. Please obtain the details of it to scan QR code and subscribe our mailing list !! Thank all of you to support us you’ve done and we are looking forward to seeing each of you!”
That QR code sends you to dtlamen.com/#mailing where you sign up for their mailing list.
