img_6171There’s another new restaurant to tell you about in DTLA.  It’s called Wild Living Foods and it’s on the corner of 8th and Main in the Fashion District.  They serve up organic plant based casual food plus cold pressed juices.  We checked the place out a few days ago and were surprised to be helped by Project Runway and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Santino Rice. Turns out he is the Remedy Bar Captain at the restaurant.  In addition to his love for fashion, he is also passionate about the healing power of plant-based cuisine.

Everything on the menu is non-GMO and organic.  There are soups, salads, small plates, sushi, burgers and sandwiches.  My husband went straight for the salad bar.  I ordered the Guacamole Burger ($13).  It’s described as “fresh guacamole tops our homemade burger patty with freshly made cashew cheese, mustard, ketchup, tomato, onion and pickle.”  I was expecting a traditional style burger.  Instead I got a very hard to eat, but delicious, sandwich.  Be sure to get extra napkins because this sandwich gets a bit messy.

img_6114Okay, back to Santino.  Wild Living Foods specializes in a wide assortment of juices and tonics that target improving digestion, building natural immunity and detoxification. Santino is there to whip you up a creamy milkshake or smoothie, or suggest the right juice combo to help fix what ails you.  We tried the Spicy Sandia which was a mixture of watermelon juice and cayenne pepper.  It cost $8 for the bottle, but it was delicious.

If you are looking for some clean eating, head to Wild Living Foods, and while you are there talk to Santino and have him make you one of him healing concoctions.
