imageThe other day we were out walking, exploring DTLA and we ended up at the new Bella Coco Cafe.  You’ve probably driven past it hundreds of times.  It’s the cute little restaurant with the yellow and white stripped awning on the corner of Wilshire and Beaudry just west of the 110 freeway.  Bella Coco describes itself as an Italian/European coffeehouse serving up pizzas, paninis, salads and desserts.  Well, we were out walking for a reason.  There is so much good food happening in DTLA, and maybe (just maybe) we’ve overdone it lately.  So when we popped into Bella Coco we decided to order salads to balance out all our recent decadent eating habits.  The woman working behind the counter was so nice and answered all our questions.

I went for the BBQ Chicken Salad ($7.99).  It’s sliced chicken breast marinated in BBQ sauce served over a bed of lettuce with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, sweet corn and peppers.  My husband ordered the Mexican Salad ($7.99) made up of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, sliced chicken breast, red beans, sweet corn, peppers and avocado.

After ordering, we decided to skip the interior dining area and eat outside on the patio which has a great view of the DTLA skyline. Both salads arrived at our table, freshly made to order, looking and tasting delicious.  We definitely need to go back to try their pizzas, paninis and desserts (so much for eating healthy, right?)

If you are looking for a new place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner, head down Wilshire just west of the 110 and check out Bella Coco Cafe.
