Finding awesome outdoor space in a DTLA rental is difficult, but not impossible. The new Piano Lofts on Hill Street have a two-story penthouse unit with an amazing rooftop deck, but it comes with a hefty price tag… $8,000 a month.
We got our first look at the Piano Lofts last night at an open house event. The building dates back to 1932 and was the Los Angeles home of the Story & Clark piano factory. It has been given a massive renovation and has been transformed into 18 residential apartments.
Piano Lofts offers one bedroom, one bedroom + study, and two bedroom units ranging from 968 to over 1500 sq. ft. including the exclusive penthouse with the private roof deck. The units we explored had open kitchens with stainless steel appliances, spacious bathrooms plus washer/dryers. The loft layout was a bit odd as the front doors opened right into the bedroom areas, and the only windows are at the far end of each unit (some with balconies). If you are looking for a brand new space in an historic Downtown Los Angeles building, you need to check out the Piano Lofts.
If you can’t afford the penthouse, you can still get outdoor access to second resident rooftop deck with its breathtaking city views.
