THE EIGHT BAR INSIDE DTLA’S WHOLE FOODS MARKET SERVES UP SOME DELICIOUS DISHES

IMG_0480By now you have probably checked out the new Whole Foods Market on Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles.  The store is awesome, right?  Well, have you tried the restaurant inside the store called The Eight Bar?  It’s kinda awesome too.  The other

night my husband and I decided to head to Whole Foods to buy something for dinner, but instead of shopping, we headed into the restaurant.  The place is casual with counter seating and communal tables.  You order your food at the bar and they give you a number.  When you food is ready, they deliver it to your table.

We ordered the Cauliflower Nachos ($7).  Don’t expect any chips with these “nachos.”  It’s just fried cauliflower topped with red and green jalapenos, pico de gallo, cilantro, lime and an avocado crema.  Delicious.

We also ordered two items off the sushi section of the menu.  The Spicy Shrimp Avocado Roll ($5) was made of shrimp and avocado with a spicy sauce.  The Spicy Crab Meat California Roll ($6) contained crab meat, cucumber and avocado also with the spicy sauce.  The serving was only 4 pieces each, but the pieces were big.  The rolls were fresh and tasty, but there is much better sushi all over DTLA.

Finally we got the Butternut Squash and Radicchio Flatbread ($11).  It’s roasted butternut squash with radicchio, caramelized onions and melted mozzarella cheese.  This dish alone was enough for two people, but my husband doesn’t like sweet potato or onions, so I ate most of it myself.  It was delicious!

IMG_0478We didn’t order any drinks, but The Eight Bar has dozens of craft beers on tap and they serve up some great looking cocktails.  They have a daily happy hour, so besides the great food, I have another reason to go back.
