The people at Little Sister should be opening up their new 7th Street restaurant any day now. The popular Manhattan Beach restaurant is taking over the old Gaji space at 523 W. 7th Street between Barrel Down Beer Hall and Q Sushi. DTLAexplorer first told you about Little Sister’s DTLA offspring back in April. The restaurant with a pan-Asian or neo-Vietnamese inspired menu was originally expected to open in late spring. The Instagram account says, “We open in late September 2015” and a posting by chef Tin Vuong says, “Coming Soon to DTLA.” So, I think it’s fair to say it’s opening any day now.
According to foodrepublic.com, the Asian bistro will seat 50+ people and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s being described as a “French colonial jewel box” with references to colonial rule in Vietnam. Little Sister dishes exclusive to DTLA include egg noodles tossed with garlic sauce, BBQ pork shrimp, pork wontons and quail eggs, with a pork broth sidecar. You’ll also find congee with duck confit, poached egg, pork belly floss, fried shallots and crispy banana blossoms. I can’t wait.
