The people behind Lotería Grill have a spin-off restaurant called Torta Company. Right now the only Torta Company location is inside the Taste Food Hall in the lower level of the Fig at 7th shopping complex. There’s a Lotería Grill counter on one side of the restaurant and a Torta Company counter on the other.
There are several different types of tortas on the menu, but I decided on the Breaded Chicken Cutlet – Milaneasa de Pollo ($9.85). It’s made with chicken breast, homemade seasoned bread crumbs, black beans, tomato, avocado, onion with chipotle mayo and cilantro dressing. Each torta is made to order, so you can tweak the ingredients if you don’t like something.
I also ordered a side of the chips and salsa ($2.99) and a Jarritos Mandarin soda ($3). Okay, I devoured the torta. Delicious! The bread and all the ingredients were really fresh. The chips and salsa were exactly what you would expect. The salsa was good, but I’m not sure it was worth $3. I really enjoyed the mandarin flavored soda.
The service at Torta Company was great. The guys working behind the counter were very helpful and friendly. I look forward to eating there again soon.
