Say it’s not true! LAist.com posted a story that Bar 107 on 4th Street is closing down! This is terrible news. First Hank’s Bar on Grand Avenue shuts down and now Bar 107? What’s happening to all DTLA’s dive bars? According to the LAist article, the landlord has slapped Bar 107 with a 90-day notice to get out. The place will apparently close down this summer.
So here’s the big question… What happens to all the cool stuff inside the bar? You know, all the funky signs and memorabilia? There are three pieces I will miss most.
- Obviously, the giant white horse statue at the far end of the bar. The photo below is from an Instagram page called @Bar_107.
- The poster of Charlie’s Angels star Jaclyn Smith over the cash register. This photo is from my personal cell phone. I remember the first time I walked into Bar 107. Kelly Garrett was there to greet me.
- The portrait of the Mona Lisa that hangs over the dance floor. This photo is also from my cell phone, although I don’t really remember taking it. That’s proof that I had a great time at Bar 107 that night.
There is no official closing date yet, so we all have time to head back to Bar 107 and have one last drink. If you have never been to Bar 107, you need to check this place out. It’s a DTLA landmark that will be missed.
