Okay, I am on the hunt for the best taco stand in DTLA (or at least nearby). We just tried Carnitas Michoacán on North Broadway in Lincoln Heights. First off, the parking lot behind the restaurant is quite small, so if you find a spot on the street, take it. The place is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week. I’ve driven by this place many times and at all different hours, and there is always a line. It gets really long at 2am when the clubs close. Like most taco stands, you order at the walk-up window, then pick up your food once your order is ready. Unlike the parking lot, Carnitas Michoacán has a pretty large open-air seating area, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a table.
We ordered the nachos and we were pretty disappointed. It was a Styrofoam container filled with chips and covered in melted cheese. It was like something you get at the movie theater or Staples Center.
I ordered the carne asada plate that included rice and beans. My husband got a tostada. Both of these were good, but I’m sure there is better out there. Here’s where you come in. Please let me know your favorite DTLA taco stand. Please post it in the comments section below or send me a message on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
