SPRING ARCADE BUILDING COULD BE THE NEW RESTAURANT HOT SPOT IN DTLA

IMG_8953The Spring Arcade Building is in the middle of a massive makeover and is on its way to becoming the new restaurant hot spot in DTLA.  Just a few years ago this beautiful corridor with arched Spanish Renaissance entryways at both Spring Street and Broadway was home to discount stores selling clothes, toys and suitcases.  Now it’s home to an international array of eateries with more on the way. According to Chef Bernhard Mairinger’s twitter account his new BierBeis Imbiss restaurant is set to open in “early summer.”  The restaurant’s official website says, “BierBeis Imbiss is now bringing you a more comfortable and modern way of enjoying Austrian street food. Because many of the so called imbiss stands are located outside and rarely ever feature a sit down place to eat and drink – we have taken these standards to the next level.  With communal seating, a bar featuring Austrian, Czech, German and other international brews, as well as some fine Austrian reds and whites it seems that this “Imbiss” is more than just a quick stop for a bite.  We will specialize our menu on our award winning sausages, farm to table salads, traditional Austrian sandwiches and pastries.”

Already open in the Spring Arcade Building are the traditional Mexican restaurant Guisados, the gelato shop Gelateria Uli, the French creperie Crepes Sans Frontiers and the Green Grotto Juice Bar.  I have tried all of these places and really like them all. Is the Spring Arcade Building the next Grand Central Market?  It’s not as big, but it has total potential.  I can’t want to see what will open there next. Spring Street Arcade 541 So.
