THE BROAD MUSEUM MAY SOON TAKE DOWN THAT TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION WALL AND OPEN SIDEWALK

IMG_8884Any day now construction crews should be taking down that temporary wall that has surrounded The Broad Museum site since groundbreaking so many years ago.  Crews have been spotted working on the Grand Avenue sidewalk in front of the museum all this week.  Hopefully once that walkway is complete, the wall will come down giving us a full view of the building, and giving us the sidewalk back!  The Broad is scheduled to open on September 20th.

The original 2011 renderings of the building’s exterior design are dramatically different from the final product.  We got our first peak inside back in early February.  The third floor is 35,000 square feet of gallery space.  It has 23 foot high ceilings with no support columns.  The $140 million building will house nearly 2,000 works of art from The Broad Art Foundation and the Broads’ personal collections, and when it finally opens, admission to The Broad will be free.  Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Broad!
