If you have not been to the Urban Radish in the Arts District, you probably think it’s one of those hipster grocery stores where everything is over priced. Well, you are kind of right. It is pricier than Food for Less, but that’s because Urban Radish only sells foods that are organic and GMO-free from producers who focus on the sustainability of our planet. Good quality food costs a little more money, and tastes a lot better. What I love most about Urban Radish is that they also have a kitchen that serves lunch and dinner.
We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed some delicious sandwiches. I ordered the Dragon Chicken ($12). It’s house-roasted sliced chicken breast, candied bacon, pickled red onion, sweet jalapenos topped with chipotle aioli. It’s the perfect combination of flavors.
Then there is the Turkey California ($11). It’s house-roasted turkey breast, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, pickled red onions, romaine and tomato. Add a drink and you are spending $15 for lunch. That’s not a bad deal for some really good food. Oh, and Urban Radish has it’s own parking lot, and parking is free.
