GIANT HORSESHOE SCULPTURE IS HIDDEN IN THE BUSHES BY STAPLES CENTER

20150320_144927So, if you have read previous postings on DTLAexplorer.com you know that I like to run around Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center.  You never know what you are going to find when you are out running.  Well, I have been to events at Staples Center dozens of times and I have used all four entrances, but I have never noticed what’s in the bushes by the Southwest VIP entrance, the one right by the valet parking stand and the Los Angeles Convention Center parking structure.  Right there, among the trees are these six huge metal horseshoes that must measures about 5 feet tall each.  I don’t know how I have never noticed them before.  I guess I’ve always been focused on getting inside, or focused on rushing to my car.   Each horseshoe reads “Tips, Inc.” and after I dug around in the shrubs for a few minutes I found the plaque with some more information.  It’s called “Wingtips and Angel Eyes at Play” by John Outterbridge 1999.  It’s kind of cool so next time you are at Staples Center take a look at the giant game of horseshoes that’s set up in the greenery.
