Okay, up until recently I was not really a fan of food from concession stands inside sports arenas. I mean really, how good can something from a fast food counter that you grab after a trip to the bathroom during half-time really be? Well, if you are at the counter at Ludo Bird inside Staples Center, it can be good, really good. The Ludo Bird fried chicken sandwich is awesome. It’s a fried chicken breast served on a potato roll with some special sauce, coleslaw and pickles ($12.50). Yes, $12.50 for a chicken sandwich is a bit steep, but come on, you’re in Staples Center where you probably already spent 12-bucks on a beer. Forego the second beer and get the sandwich.
Ludo Bird is the creation of French Chef Ludo Lefebvre, the man behind Trois Mec, the L.A. restaurant that has topped almost every Best New Restaurant list. I don’t know why he decided to open a restaurant inside Staples Center, but I am so glad he did. Next time you are at Staples for a game or concert, make a beeline to Ludo Bird. It’s on the main concourse level across from aisle 119.
Oh, and I have not tried it yet, but I just might buy a ticket to whatever event is being held tonight at Staples Center because I need one of Ludo Bird’s Salty and Sweet Ice Cream Sandwiches!
