LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RUN IN DTLA WITHOUT PEDESTRIANS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS?

20150320_142812If you are like me, you get bored running on the treadmill, but you don’t like to run on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles because they are too crowded and there are too many traffic lights and intersections.  Well, I found the alternative.  I run around Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center during the day or when there is not a major event.  The view is great.  You run past Staples Center, the Los Angeles Convention Center and L.A. Live.  There is very little pedestrian traffic, so there are not people in your way.  There are no real traffic lights to worry about, and it’s relatively clean and safe.

Start on Chick Hearn Court (the road between Staples Center and L.A. Live) and go east to Figueroa Street  and run along the east side of Staples Center, then head west on Pico Boulevard, under the 110 Freeway to L.A. Live Way, then north back up to Chick Hearn Court to where you started.  The route is about 1 mile.  Click here for a link to a map.

If you are looking to kick your workout up a notch, try adding the stairs of the convention center to your routine.  There are flights of stairs all along the route.

Do you have any other running routes in DTLA?  I’d love to hear about them.  Please mention them in the comments section below.  Thanks!
