Did you know there was an observation level on the 27th floor of the Los Angeles City Hall building in DTLA? …and it’s open to the public and FREE! All you need to do to get up there is enter the City Hall lobby off Main Street, go through metal detectors, and then show your photo ID to the security guards. Once you get your visitor pass just jump in the elevator (Don’t get in the first elevator you see, that one only takes you up to the 10th floor) to the 22nd floor, then take a second elevator to 26 and then take a flight of stairs (or another elevator) up to 27.
The views are spectacular (see slide show below). I
think the view up here rivals the view from the Griffith Park Observatory because you look out in all directions. The City Hall observation level is open Monday thru Friday from 9am to 5pm. Sadly, it’s not open on weekends.
