What do you get when you cross science with ice cream? You get the newest dessert destination in DTLA called Ice Cream Lab. It opened on E. 2nd Street in Little Tokyo earlier this month.
The “scientists” at Ice Cream Lab blend up unique flavor combinations in a fancy industrial mixer right in front of you, then using liquid nitrogen, they freeze the creation instantly. It’s quite a spectacle.
We ordered the medium cup (which is the smallest size they offer) of their signature flavors Salt Lick Crunch (salted pretzels and caramel) and the Banilla (bananas and Nilla wafers) at $5.50 each. OMG! This stuff is delicious. Probably the creamiest ice cream I have ever eaten.
I can’t wait to go back and try the Blue Velvet (cupcake and cream cheese frosting). If you are more of a traditional ice cream flavor kind of person, they do serve up the classics like vanilla bean, chocolate and strawberry.
